Allison Threadgold

Born in New York City, the daughter of a French mother and British father, I’m a trilingual, nurturing brunette with a dark side. A graduate of Atlantic Theater’s Conservatory in New York, I moved to Los Angeles to study with Clark Gregg and Daivd Mamet among other acting coaches and casting directors. While in LA I produced and starred in the award winning webseries, The Majestic Theater Co..

From Los Angeles I moved north to Santa Barbara for a brief spell; filming two shorts, and performing in several local plays. While in Santa Barbara I developed and launched, the now bi-coastal, Stripped Scripts®(Sx). Sx hosts a monthly play reading series and produces one fully staged production each year.

In the fall of 2017 Stripped Scripts® (Sx) produced the NYC premiere of Tomorrow in the Battle by Kieron Barry (An Ars Nova Fling). Last July Sx presented a sold out run of Stupid Fucking Bird by Aaron Posner as an immersive experience in Plaxall Gallery.

I am now back in New York City where I have been working on a variety of projects, both commercial and theatrical. Recent and upcoming projects include Detective Eidit on Diabolical and commercials for Wegman’s and Le Gruyere.

My passion for acting hails back to my stage debut in Connaught House’s third form play. Swaying in the breeze as ‘The Tree,’ brown tights and a green turtle neck stapled with leaves - there was no question- this was the life!  I have been expanding her credits since those days to include a wide variety of human characters, including Vickie in Noises Off, the lead in an original short film Seconds, an ongoing stint as the Nurse in an educational production of Romeo and Juliet, a TV Pilot called Fluff as well as various commercials.

I also enjoy exploring anywhere I’ve never been, leading volunteer trips to orphanages, and cooking my own twists on classic dishes. All hobbies which weave their way into the characters I takes on and the adventures I seek out.

Holding Space

One of my primary draws to acting is the opportunity & privilege holding space for a great breadth of different people that live lives vastly distinct from my own.

Whether it’s for an historical figure or fictional one it’s the same magic of getting to bring to (or back to) life another’s journey. A chance both for me to understand experiences outside my own by exploring a life through their lens and to use this ‘space holding’ as a vehicle through which to connect to an audience in the place where my personal life experience intertwines with the character's.

The mission of Stripped Scripts is to create a unique environment for collaboration between actors and writers. Stripped Scripts' hosts unrehearsed and staged play readings, stripped away of elaborate sets, stage directions, costuming, and ticket sales in order to focus on the actor's choices and the words of the text. This format allows for in the moment, organic development of the liaison between writer and actor where characters are voiced in fresh and potentially unexpected ways.  Stripped Scripts' cultivates a space for actors and writers to come together to tell stories in front of an intimate audience. Founded in 2014 by Allison Threadgold, with it's first home in Santa Barbara, California, Stripped Scripts is now bi-coastal with a new home in New York.
